About
What is ArchivesSpace?
The New York University Libraries, UC San Diego Libraries, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Libraries and the California Digital Library are partnering to develop a next-generation archives management application that will incorporate the best features of Archivist’s Toolkit (AT) and Archon. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the project team is developing a technical platform, governance structure, and service model that will provide the archival community with a cutting-edge, extensible, and sustainable platform for describing analog and born-digital archival materials.
The planning process developed:
- A set of technical specifications to guide development of the next-generation tool
- Hi-Level Functional Requirements
Archivists’ Toolkit and Archon will remain available while the development process is underway. The ArchivesSpace development project timeline will include:
- Development of a new, unified software system
- Migration of current AT and Archon installations to the new system
- Selection of an organization home
